The story of Wales’ arguably most prolific and well known distillery is fascinating, and we are extremely excited to have representatives from Penderyn joining as at The Summerton Whisky Festival in June to introduce their extensive catalog of whisky.

It all started in the early 1990s in a Welsh valley town, with a group of friends discussing a dream to establish their own distillery, producing a whisky ‘as pure and precious as Welsh Gold’. Today, this ethos is represented with Penderyn’s distinctive Gold seam in their branding.

The ideal site was found on the southern tip of the world renowned Brecon Beacons, a site with its own supply of fresh natural spring water. They launched their first whisky, created in a unique copper single pot still, on St David’s Day in 2004 with HRH Price Charles in attendance.

“At Penderyn we produce our own malted barley spirit which, when matured, is recognised worldwide as one of the finest single malt whiskies. The majority of our spirit goes into casks for ageing in our cellars. The remainder is used to craft other award-winning products. With investment, inspiration, hard work, attention to detail, the finest barley, expert distillers and the best American oak bourbon casks, Penderyn Whisky has quickly gained a worldwide reputation winning several awards en route and we have recently found new markets in countries such as China, Russia and Australia”
