Parker Beam, Master Distiller Emeritus 1941-2017
Parker Beam began working at Heaven Hill Distillery in 1960, alongside his father, Earl, who was Heaven Hill’s first Master Distiller when the company was founded in 1935. Parker passed away in January 2017 after a long and valiant battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. His 57 years of experience and sage counsel has left an indelible mark on the production and aging of Heaven Hill Distillery’s American Whiskeys.
Denny Potter, Master Distiller
Denny oversees the distilling, aging and selecting of Heaven Hill’s world-renowned portfolio of American Whiskeys. Denny has spent 14 years in distillery operations, and he now has the enviable position of ensuring that the Bourbon produced at Heaven Hill Distillery possesses the same high quality and consistent taste consumers have come to expect.
Charlie Downs, Artisanal Master Distiller
Charlie has been working the stills at Heaven Hill for over 40 years, alongside Earl and Parker Beam and three generations of the Shapira family. Charlie runs our Artisanal Distillery at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on Louisville’s historic Whiskey Row, an official stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Rickhouses Of Heaven Hill Distillery
The “O” rickhouse was built in 1957 in Bardstown. It has seven floors and can hold up to 19,000 barrels. There are more than 30 of its kind that Heaven Hill uses, making it the most numerous style used at Heaven Hill.
The “FF” rickhouse was built in the early 1950’s in Deatsville at the site of the T.W. Samuels Distillery. It has six floors and can hold around 20,000 barrels. It is one of nine of its kind that Heaven Hill uses.
