The Summerton Whisky Club’s August 2019 Bottle of the Month
Douglas Laing’s Old Particular Craigellachie 12yr Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Founded by Fred Douglas Laing in 1948, still owned and run by the Laing family – Fred Laing Jr and his daughter Cara Laing, Douglas Laing is a leading independent blender and bottler specialising in the creation of artisan, small batch and Single Cask Scotch Whiskies. Hand-selected from the finest, and often rarest stocks available throughout Scotland, their Whisky is offered as the Distiller intended: At high alcohol strength and proudly without chill filtration or added colour.
From their fantastic range, we have chosen to share the Old Particular Single Cask Craigellachie 12 Year Old, of which there will only ever be 358 bottles. This Speyside Single Malt offers a nose of sweet barley and freshly cut grass, with a palate of marmalade and cinnamon and medium-long finish.
This bottle offers a great example of Craigellachie’s amazing work, a distillery with nearly one hundred and thirty years of history creating a delightful whisky with a heavier mouthfeel and floral notes.
We hope that our members enjoy this whisky as much as we have.
Cheers!
